We are building an educational YouTube channel focused on delivering informative, fact-based, and general knowledge content. Our goal is to simplify useful knowledge and present them in a visually compelling and entertaining way — more like informative storytelling.
Role Summary
We are looking for a YouTube-native Scriptwriter / Story Editor who understands how to write stories that hold attention, drive retention, and reward watch time.
This role focuses on story structure, pacing, and hooks, not long-form prose or traditional screenwriting.
Key Responsibilities
- Write and edit scripts for animated YouTube videos (5–12 minutes)
- Create strong hooks in the first 5–10 seconds
- Structure stories for high audience retention (setup → tension → payoff)
- Tighten scripts for pacing (remove filler, sharpen dialogue/narration)
- Rewrite scripts based on performance feedback and retention data
- Adapt scripts to match a defined channel voice and visual style
- Collaborate closely with the YouTube Channel Manager and Animation Producer
- Convert long-form scripts into Shorts-ready versions when required
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience writing for YouTube or digital video platforms
- Strong understanding of:
- Hooks and pattern interrupts
- Open loops and curiosity gaps
- Retention-focused storytelling
- Ability to write for voiceover and animation
- Comfortable writing concise, conversational narration
- Experience revising scripts based on feedback and data
- Portfolio with published YouTube scripts or videos
Nice to Have (Strong Plus)
- Experience with animated or explainer content
- Understanding of YouTube analytics (retention graphs, drop-off points)
- Experience writing Shorts, Reels, or TikTok scripts
- Familiarity with AI-assisted writing workflows

Note: This is a YouTube-specific writing role. Traditional screenwriting or novel-writing samples alone will not be considered.
